Let me start by saying I was a skeptic. For the past year and a half I have been using Bose sports buds, and loved them. I really didn’t have anything to complain about with them, but I decided to give the Aftershokz a try and see what happens.

The headphones arrived with a nice matching water bottle. First out the box, I found myself wondering how these things actually worked. The aftershokz implement what’s called “bone conduction” technology. I charged them up and prepped them for my morning run. The moment you put them on, the first thing you realize is these headphones don’t go in your ear like regular buds. They actually rest right on your bone by the opening of your ear. Im thinking to myself, “how the hell am I going to hear my music from there?”. I fire up my playlist and sure enough, the music came through crystal clear in my ears. From that moment, I was in love. Not only was the music clear but there is a mic attached so you can take calls while you are on the move.

It was cold the first couple runs I took the aftershokz on, so I was wearing a fuzzy hat over the headphones. My only gripe was I wasn’t quite hearing the bass I was used to with my other buds. My 3rd run, it was a little warmer so no hat and I could hear the bass clearly. It was so intense I could feel the bass bouncing of the bone of my ear. I love every minute of it. I have now taken them out on 5 runs and I still have not had to recharge them, they give you 12 hours of use.

Last but not least, one of the biggest cons about wearing headphones is you aren’t able to hear things around when you are out, whether it be cars, dogs, etc.  The Aftershokz Sportz Titanium eliminates that issue. With the open ear design, the buds aren’t placed in your ear so you are able to hear everything around you. No more worrying about not hear cars honking, and you can easily hold a conversation with your running partner while still enjoying your tunes.

Pros: open ear design, 12 hour battery use, no bouncing with over the ear placement, crystal clear sound, mic for answering calls on the run

Cons: Only con I would have is that you have to recharge them.

That being said, I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THESE HEADPHONES for the runner, cyclist or outdoorsman/woman in your life.
